Copa Mundial de Futbol
I had to wait four years to watch another world cup. Finally, it will begin on June 12, 2014. This time, the host of the tournament is Brazil. I have been watching futbol games for a long time. I was only 7 years old when I listen on the radio games from Argentina 1978 world cup (I did not have a TV back then). The next world cup took place in Spain and it was then that I had the opportunity to watch the games on TV. Given the conditions in which I grew up, I never imagine that I could someday attend a world cup game. I did not attend one game. In fact, I attended two games during the 1994 world cup that took place in the USA territory. It was an amazing experience and I look forward to attend another game someday.

It must have been a lot of fun to attend a world cup match. My country has won the African Cup for 3 times successively
ReplyDeleteJust it was a lot of fun. I watched The United States against Colombia and also Argentina against Rumania. The only thing that I regret is that the match between Argentina and Rumania, Maradona who I consider to be the best player ever could not play. Is your Country going to be participating in the world cup 2014?
DeleteI was visiting Mexico City during the 1998 World Cup. Although I did not attend any of the games, I watched them obsessively on TV. The family I was visiting took me about the city and I visited pyramids and museums, but mostly we were rushing back home to watch the next game. It was fun and since I had visited D.F. on several occasions prior, I did not feel I was missing much. Bellas Artes and Teotihuacan could wait; the game was on!
ReplyDeleteAs you know the world cup only happens every four year and futbol fans do almost anything to watch the games. I think that this world cup is going to be very competitive because many of the nations attending have good teams.
DeleteThe news these days says a lot of Brazilians are upset about the preparations for the World Cup. But I bet once the games start, they will be cheering their heads off.
ReplyDeleteCorrection. The last World Cup took place in South Africa. Spain won. And now their coach is saying that their players are not hungry to win... Which makes sense, since most of the players are from the Barca, which has had a rough season. These players won absolutely everything.
